Excerpt from More Than Our Yesterdays
My hands and fingers tingled from the adrenaline that was coursing through me. It hadn’t been this bad in a while. Ever since I started taking the Trintellix, I’d been feeling great, even while driving. And the insurance company had denied it for being “medically unnecessary?” Yeah, right!
“I need my Trintellix.” I said, nodding forcefully.
David’s voice washed over me, helping my nerves calm.
“I told you that was a possibility. If you need it, you need it. We can afford it right now. It won’t be fun, but it is possible.”
He immediately called CVS Pharmacy, where I still had a valid prescription. He asked them to get some Trintellix ready and that we would pick up fifteen days’ worth. The amount it would cost gave me pause for a moment, but remembering how bad the anxiety would get without it slowed my worry. If David said we could do it, we could do it.
Though the Trintellix didn’t give me relief at that moment, it worked within the next day. I calmed and could get through the next two weeks alright. But I knew we couldn’t afford that again, so I went to my new doctor in Texas and got a referral for a psychiatrist.
